This month I made a purely speculative comic. Perhaps adding my own speculation to the subject isn’t a clever idea. However, speculation is fun to do.
The speculative premise is,
What if crashed/landed craft are some sort of litmus test for humanity…
While this comic only produces more questions, and possibly “yeah but…” replies. It begs the question - why are there even crashes in the first place? Not only crashes - but abandoned craft. Landed. Sitting there unattended. Is it just a matter of accidental exposure? Or a more deliberate attempt at offering humanity an insight into their potential future.
If this was the case, then the UFO itself is not even that important. Not a final mystery. Rather, it’s an entry point into what the UFO represent to us. That is, the potential for significant advancement.
In this way the UFO represents a kind of fairytale gift from the gods. Manna from Heaven1, or even perhaps we could link the idea of Deus ex machina2.
Are UFOs then some sort of archetypal symbol of salvation? Something so amazing that anyone encountering it immediately should know its awe-inspiring value?
By testing humanity’s reaction to a fantastical gift - it might be the only way to know if humans are ready for open contact.
Thanks again for reading. If you liked the comic be sure to leave a like, comment, or share it with a friend.
